Jane Sandall: «Every woman deserves to have a midwife by her side»
This is the first english-language episode of the Herztöne / Battements de coeur podcast, featuring Jane Sandall, a midwife in the United Kingdom. Jane Sandall is a globally recognized researcher in sociology of medicine and midwifery, with a focus on midwife-led care and continuity of care models. She has recently worked with the National Health Service in England and with the World Health Organization. In this episode, she explains what are the benefits of midwife-led continuity of care for women and babies – but also under what conditions this model can be satisfying for both women and midwives. Finally, she advocates giving access to midwife continuity of care to the women who need it most, and therefore reducing inequalities.
This «Herztöne»-episode is the first in a series about midwife-led care.
